Suggestions for every IIT Aspirant..
Hi Friends, As you may have already guessed from the title what the article is gonna be about. The thing is actually I have been receiving many queries & doubts related to a number of issues. Let me clear this out here!
I had graduated from IITKGP in 2018 and having spent 4 wonderful years there, I feel to suggest the following things for aspirants:
- IIT-JEE is just an exam: Yeah, it is simply the most reputed exam for students interested in Engineering.
- Prepare seriously. It requires your cent percent.
- Don’t invest your emotions too much, please. It really hurts.
- Don’t panic too much. I know it’s not easy at a tender age of 16–17 but you have to keep calm.
- Failure doesn’t define you: I will not give you examples of people to prove that you can be great without clearing IIT-JEE or so.
- Understand one thing, you have to put what you can from your side.
- The result is not in your hands.
- IQ plays a role here.
- Avoid relationships/love: I never say you can’t study if you have a girlfriend. It’s just that, taking precautions is good.
- If you have one, just have an understanding with her & don’t cut time from studies for dates.
- Obviously, cheat days are allowed. With friends/girlfriend or family members. Reduces your stress.
- Don’t daydream or overhype in your brain: It’s easy if you think it’s easy and work hard to actually make it easy.
- Push yourself.
- Daydreaming is not an issue. Everyone does that. It’s just that it wastes time.
- Have targets. Perform there. It’ll reduce the hype people create.
- Parents are not culprits: Society is. Parents want to see you in the best place.
- They take decisions for your long-term benefit.
- Remember the dialogue from the Kota factory “niyat kabhi kharab nahi hoti maa-baap ki” (intentions of parents are never wrong).
- If you fail, just go & tell them you tried. They’ll hug you & things will move on.
- IIT is not heaven: A reality check. You get too many opportunities.
- 100s of things to explore.
- Listen to so many inspiring journeys.
- Meet awesome people.
- But your struggle is yours. Ultimately, you are responsible for the person you become after coming out. Don’t have unrealistic expectations.
- CSE is a good branch. There are other branches too. Everyone codes.
- Have a backup: Really needed. Most of the aspirants who message/ping me have no backups. They are like “Bhaiya, I have to crack JEE only”.
- No-one stops you from giving your sole focus on JEE.
- But fill other forms too.
- Have a talk with parents over all the possible circumstances. (I know they may take it as your escape. You need to convince)
- The success rate is anyways against you. Be practical.
- Hard work never ends in life: IIT is not the end in itself. You have to struggle for grades there.
- You have to get a decent placement.
- You have to pursue your long-term goals.
- You have to be dynamic in your approach.
- Don’t be a devotee to IITians: I have seen students making contacts with IIT guy and then bragging about it among friends. Not cool dude.
- No sort of contact can really help you get through.
- You are an aspirant & everyone else who cracked the exam was what you are.
- Focus on studying rather than approaching 20 guys from IIT.
- Time is precious.
- Live your life: No need to live in isolation. You will never get those friends made in Class 12th or the girl whom someone else befriended and then finally went into the relationship.
- It doesn’t mean you start focusing on girls. Just be friends with her if you really think you like her.
- Enjoy a 2-hour outing with school friends every fortnight. Have fun.
- Spend time with family too. Have a normal talk at least on weekends.
Don’t take a break just because exams are postponed. Every future rank holder is using the time to increase the cutoffs! 😄
Thanks!
All the best!
Keep Supporting. Keep reading. Keep progressing in life.
